TRUTH BE TOLD: Voices of our Young People

The goal of the Truth Be Told project is to honor the unique spirit and expression of youth across all cultural and economic divides. This project is a working platform from which to share the voices of our younger generation.

Project Summary
Through this project, we aim to showcase the strength and resiliency held within each one of us, highlighting the beauty and creativity of the human spirit. Monthly podcasts will be released via this website centralized around a topic or theme. Media will be gathered from student works produced within ONTASC's school-community partnership programs. It will have a ‘This American Life’ meets ‘StoryCorps’ feel.

Project Outline
Each episode will contain stories, spoken word, commentary and music by youth. There will be four distinct segments. 1. “Teacher Time” – Persuasive arguments from top professionals on education and social justice. 2. “The Good News Report” - Announcements from local community about accomplishments, achievements, and good deeds from our young people. 3. Guest speakers -  Live interviews, stories, spoken word, poetry, wisdom, music, dialogue, etc. with kids. 4. “Schooled” -  Youth perspective on politics, education and humanity. The full one-hour episode will have musical interludes, backbeats, sound effects and ambient location sound to weave the show together.

Host: Abram R. Katz, ONTASC Program Director

Funding
Funding for the Truth Be Told project will be obtained through grants and charitable donations via one or more fiscal sponsors. Funding obtained will cover services rendered for the Truth Be Told monthly podcasts, including audio recording and editing, post-production of voiceovers, assembly of all podcast elements - music, guest speakers, stories, and commentary, as well as outreach and coordination with schools and local youth organizations.

Sustainability
Corporate sponsorship. With proper promotion and marketing, we will bring positive attention to and continued funding from organizations complimentary with our vision.

Spreadability
Truth Be Told will expand to include more than one episode per month as funding allows. The radio show itself has the potential to collaborate with local schools on in-class language arts assignments, social studies projects, history lessons, performing arts, community events, and more.
